1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Onyx ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Onyx is a macOS teleprompter and speed-reading application that displays text in a Dynamic Island-style notch overlay. The App provides two modes: Teleprompter mode, which uses real-time speech recognition to follow along with your script, and Speed Reader mode, which uses RSVP (rapid serial visual presentation) to display text at a configurable pace. All processing is performed locally on your device.
3. User Eligibility
Onyx is a general-audience application rated 4+ with no age restriction. Because the App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, there are no age-related privacy concerns.
4. System Requirements
Onyx requires macOS 15.0 (Sequoia) or later. The App is designed to run natively on Apple Silicon and Intel-based Macs. Certain features, such as the notch overlay, are optimized for MacBook models with a notch display but are functional on all supported Macs.
5. Microphone & Speech Recognition
The Teleprompter mode requires microphone access and speech recognition permissions to function. Speech recognition is performed on-device using Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer framework. Recognition accuracy may vary depending on your environment, accent, speaking speed, and microphone quality. Orochi Systems is not responsible for inaccurate or missed speech recognition. You can revoke microphone and speech recognition permissions at any time through macOS System Settings.
6. User Content
You retain full ownership of all text you input, paste, or import into the App. Onyx does not claim any rights to your content. Text is processed locally and is not transmitted to any external service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any text content you load into the App.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, user interface, code, and branding, is owned by Orochi Systems and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App, reverse engineer or decompile the App, or use our trademarks without written consent.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Orochi Systems does not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all system configurations. Speech recognition accuracy is not guaranteed and depends on factors outside our control.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Orochi Systems shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to missed or inaccurate speech recognition during presentations or recordings.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Turkey. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Turkey.
