1. What Lantern Mahjong Is
Lantern Mahjong is a quiet mahjong solitaire for iPhone and iPad, developed by Orochi Systems. Every deal can be solved, and Lumi, a small lantern spirit, grows with you along a journey of five places. It is free, has no ads and no in-app purchases, and needs no account. Your progress stays on your device.
2. Contact Support
Email lanternmahjong@orochisystems.com. We can help with the journey and the Lantern Road, Knots, the Long Night, Pass the Lantern, Game Center, widgets, the daily reminder, sound, languages, and privacy questions. We answer in English, Japanese or Turkish.
3. What to Include in a Bug Report
Please tell us: - The Lantern Mahjong version, shown in Settings under About. - Your device, for example iPhone 17 or iPad Air, and your iOS or iPadOS version. - The App's language and the difficulty you play on. - Which screen or level is involved. - What you expected to happen and what happened instead, step by step if you can. Screenshots help. For a lantern that will not open, paste its code into your email.
4. Quick Checks
- You are running the latest version of Lantern Mahjong. - Your device is on iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later. - No sound: the App follows the silent switch, and its sound switches are in Settings › Sound. - No reminder: turn on Daily reminder in Settings › Reminder, and allow notifications for Lantern Mahjong in the Settings app.
5. Every Deal Can Be Solved
Every board is built from a real solution, so there is always a way through. If a move closes the path, Lumi tells you at once, and one step back opens it again. Hints only ever show a safe pair. On Hard, Lumi's glow no longer finds pairs for you, but whispers and hints still work when you ask for them.
6. Pass the Lantern
Open Pass the Lantern on the home screen, play as many pairs as you like, then pass the lantern by Messages, WhatsApp, LINE or any app. Your friend copies the whole message and opens Lantern Mahjong, and a Paste button appears on the home screen. In Messages the lantern arrives as a card that opens the board with a tap. The name signed on your hands is set in Settings › Pass the Lantern. If the Paste button does not appear, open Pass the Lantern on the home screen and paste the code there. A code that was cut short or changed will not open; ask your friend to send it again.
7. Game Center
Game Center is off by default. Turn it on in Settings › Game Center to send your Daily Path time, total stars and Lumi's XP to the leaderboards, and to pass lanterns to Game Center friends, who are told when it is their turn. If Leaderboards stays greyed out, sign in to Game Center in the Settings app and open Lantern Mahjong again.
8. Widgets
Touch and hold the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Lantern Mahjong. Widgets show your next level, the hour of the night you are on, and Lumi. If a widget looks out of date, open the App once so it can update the widget.
9. Your Progress and a New Device
Your progress lives on your device, with no account and no cloud sync. It moves to a new iPhone or iPad when you restore from an iCloud or computer backup or use Quick Start. Deleting the App, or Settings › Progress › Reset progress, erases it, and we cannot restore it.
10. Language
Lantern Mahjong speaks English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish and Simplified Chinese, and follows your device's language. To use another language for this App alone, open the Settings app, find Lantern Mahjong, and choose Language.
11. Privacy and Terms
