1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Grail ("the App"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you download Grail from the App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies unless a custom license is provided. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Service Nature
Grail is a personal fountain pen and ink ledger for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, developed by Orochi Systems. It keeps records of the pens you own, the nibs installed in them, the inks and containers on your shelf, the fills that are inked right now and those in your history, care events, ratings, notes, and photographs you attach. Grail is free of charge, contains no in-app purchases, and has no subscription. Every feature is included. Feature availability can vary by device, OS version, region, language, and configuration.
3. Your Records
You are responsible for the pens, inks, fills, notes, ratings, photographs, exports, and other information you create in Grail. You retain ownership of the records you create. Do not use the App to store unlawful content or content you are not authorized to keep. Grail is a record-keeping tool. Collection values, fill ages, and stock levels are computed from what you enter and are only as accurate as your entries.
4. Reference Catalog and Accuracy
Grail ships with a reference catalog of pen models, nib options, and inks to help you name your records. The catalog is compiled from publicly available product information and may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong in places. Catalog swatches are approximations and do not represent the exact colour of any ink on any paper. The catalog is provided for identification only. Verify anything that matters, such as a purchase, an appraisal, or a repair, against the maker's own information. Grail is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any pen or ink maker, and maker and product names are used only to identify your own records.
5. iCloud Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, Grail mirrors your library to your private iCloud database so it appears on your other devices. Sync depends on Apple's iCloud service, your Apple Account, your network connection, and your device settings, and it can be delayed or unavailable. Edits made offline on two devices are reconciled when the App becomes active, and where two records were created under the same identity they are merged into one. Grail is not responsible for delays, conflicts, or failures in Apple's sync infrastructure. You can turn iCloud Drive off for Grail in your device settings, in which case your library stays only on that device.
6. Export, Import, Deletion, and Backups
Grail can export your complete library, including photographs, as a JSON archive to a location you pick, and can merge an archive back in. Deletions are remembered, so merging an older archive does not resurrect records you removed on purpose. Deleting a record removes it from your library and, through sync, from your other devices; deleting the App removes its local library from that device. You are responsible for keeping separate backups of information you consider important and for protecting exported files after they leave the App.
7. Photographs
Photographs you attach are chosen through the system photo picker and are stored inside your library. You are responsible for having the right to keep and, if you export or share them, to distribute any photographs you attach.
8. Device and Feature Requirements
Grail requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later on iPhone and iPad, and macOS 15 or later on Mac. iCloud sync requires an Apple Account signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive enabled for Grail. Feature availability can change as Apple platforms change.
9. Acceptable Use
You may not misuse Grail, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, abuse system integrations, or use the App for unlawful activity.
10. Third Party Platforms
Grail depends on Apple platforms and services including iCloud and CloudKit, the system photo picker, the Files app, and App Store distribution. We are not responsible for third party outages, policy changes, or service failures.
11. Intellectual Property
Grail, including its software, design, the nib identity, the accent and paper themes, branding, and related materials, is owned by Orochi Systems and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or decompile the App, or use our trademarks, without written consent. Pen, ink, paper, and maker names that appear in the App are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify products.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
Grail is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, uninterrupted sync, error free record keeping, or the accuracy or completeness of the reference catalog, any swatch, any computed value, or any pairing suggestion.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Orochi Systems is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of records, arising from your use of Grail. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the preceding 12 months. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.
14. Termination
We may suspend or discontinue features if these Terms are violated or if service components are discontinued. You may stop using Grail at any time by deleting the App.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Continued use after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Turkey. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Turkey, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you have under the consumer law of the country where you live.
