Blackwall

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

1. Overview

Blackwall is a local-first iOS AI assistant developed by Orochi Systems. Blackwall is designed so conversation history, settings, memory recall data, and image attachments stay inside the app sandbox on your device unless you explicitly choose to download a model from a remote host.

2. No Account Required

Blackwall does not require you to create an Orochi Systems account to use the app. In the current implementation, there is no in-app sign-in, no user profile sync, and no cloud chat account managed by Orochi Systems.

3. Conversations, Settings, and Local Memory

Blackwall stores conversation threads, messages, settings, installed-model selections, and locally generated memory snippets in the app's local storage on your device. These records are used to restore threads, switch models, and recall relevant snippets during future prompts.

4. Attachments and Image Summaries

If you attach an image from the photo library or capture one with the camera, Blackwall stores the attachment locally in the app sandbox so it can be used in the conversation. The app can also generate local attachment summaries such as OCR text, frame description, and coarse tone hints to improve prompts on device.

5. Voice Input and Speech Recognition

If you use voice input, Blackwall requests microphone and speech recognition permission. Audio capture is recorded temporarily on device and transcribed using Apple's on-device speech recognition path. Blackwall is implemented to require on-device recognition rather than a hosted transcription service. Apple may provide required language assets to your device on first use.

6. Model Downloads and Installed Assets

Blackwall can download model files that you choose to install for local inference. In the current implementation, model URLs are defined in the app catalog and include third-party hosts such as Hugging Face-hosted model files. Downloaded model assets are stored locally on your device and checked for size and available integrity metadata before use where supported.

7. Permissions

Depending on the features you use, Blackwall may request access to the camera, photo library, microphone, and speech recognition. You can deny or revoke these permissions in iOS Settings at any time. If a permission is denied, the related feature may not work or may operate in a reduced mode.

8. Networking, Third-Party Hosts, and No Cloud Sync

Blackwall does not send your prompts, conversation history, image attachments, or recalled memory to an Orochi Systems chat server. The app does make outbound network requests when you choose to download models. Those requests go to the file host for the selected model and may expose standard network metadata such as IP address, request headers, and transfer timing to that host or its CDN. Blackwall does not provide cloud conversation sync in the current implementation.

9. Analytics and Tracking

Blackwall is not designed around advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or hosted analytics pipelines for chat content. In the current implementation reviewed for this policy, we did not identify an Orochi Systems telemetry pipeline that uploads prompts, attachments, or behavioral analytics from the app.

10. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell personal data and do not share your Blackwall conversation history with data brokers. Apple platform providers and third-party model hosts may process the operational network data needed to deliver permissions, downloads, or platform frameworks under their own terms.

11. Retention, Deletion, and Local Controls

Blackwall retains local conversations, memory snippets, attachments, and installed models until you remove them. You can delete threads, remove installed models, or use the in-app wipe flow to purge the local archive. Uninstalling the app removes sandboxed app data subject to Apple platform behavior.

12. Security

Blackwall relies on Apple platform sandboxing, device security controls, and local storage protections. While we take reasonable steps to support secure local operation, no device or software system can be guaranteed completely secure.

13. Children's Privacy

Blackwall is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

14. International Users

If you use Blackwall outside your home jurisdiction, local privacy laws may apply. Third-party download hosts and Apple platform providers may process operational data under their own infrastructure and legal obligations.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
